The Department of Economics of Bodoland University was started in the year 1998 as Kokrajhar campus of Gauhati University, Guwahati. With the enactment of Bodoland University Act in 2009, it has become a part of Bodoland University. At present, the department provides M.A./M.Sc. in Economics and Ph.D. programme.
The Department of History, Bodoland University was introduced in 2005. Since its inception, the Department has been attempting to provide sound knowledge in reconstructing the history of the downtrodden communities whose histories are less known or ignored. It attempts to produce qualitative students and scholars in history who will help the human civilization through their research works. One of the most important objectives of the Department is to preserve the oral tradition of the Bodo community and other tribal people of North East India; unless it is preserved, it may be swiped away.
Bodoland University's Department of Political Science is a leading department that was established in 2005. The department features cutting-edge facilities, and its faculty members hold extensive teaching and research experience, as well as high-quality publications to their credit. Ph.D., M.Phil., M.A. in Political Science, and a one-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Human Rights are among the programs available. A Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies is also run by the department. Field visits, internships, assignment presentations for classroom debate, video lectures, role-playing exercises, and experiential learning are all part of the department's regular schedule. The department holds seminars, workshops, lecture series, and other events on a regular basis to further strengthen the skills and growth of its students and academic members. In order to support its students in all aspects of life, the department also uses the mentor-mentee model.
The Department of Education was established in 2015 under the School of Social Sciences. Presently, the department offers two years Master of Arts in Education spreading over four semesters and Ph.D programme. The department emphasizes on creating a holistic education system, developing values and all-round development in individuals.
