The Academic Branch of Bodoland University plays a pivotal role for its growth and development. It begins with Dr. Ganesh Ch. Wary as the Academic Registrar and Dr. Prahlad Basumatary as the Deputy Registrar (Academic). After the departure of Dr. Wary, Dr. Prahlad Basumatary ran the branch independently for sometime as Deputy Academic Registrar. Thereafter, Dr. Hare Krishna Sahoo, Director, Students Welfare of the University took extra charge of the Academic Registrar i/c for some time. At present, Professor P. K. Patra acts as the Academic Registrar, in- charge. Thereafter, Dr. Manjil Basumatary acts as the Academic Registrar permanently. The branch has been running smoothly with four assistants: (a) Kamal Kumar Basumatary, (b) Jaya Daimari, (c) Haina Brahma, and (d) Jaypal Basumatary.

As academic branch, it is concerned with various educational programmes like undergraduate, post- graduate, M. Phil. and Ph. D. The branch deals with the academic rules and regulations and their implementations. Academic branch is considered as the artery of Bodoland University through which the blood of the university circulates. The branch monitors the faculty, students and the systematic running of the various courses. It works in collaboration with other branches like examination and administration for proper harmony and health of the university.
