Department of Mathematical Sciences started functioning as a full-fledged Department in 2011 under the Bodoland University Act, 2009 passed in the Assam Legislative Assembly. The Department is a continuation of the Department of Mathematics, which started functioning in 2005 under the Kokrajhar Campus of Gauhati University. The Department carries out research in the areas of Relativity & Cosmology, General Topology, Fuzzy sets and Applications, Fuzzy Topology, Functional Analysis, Fixed Point Theory, Operator Theory, Graph Theory, Demography & Environment.
The vision of the Department is to provide trained human resources for undertaking research and teaching in Mathematics and allied branches of basic or applied sciences.
