The Centre for Women’s Studies in Bodoland University was set up in 2011 vide Office Order No. R1/WSC/2011/8 Dated 15.11.2011. The University Grants Commission, on the recommendations of the Standing Committee on Women’s Studies of Ministry of Human Resource Development, approved the establishment of the Centre in January, 2016 with effect from April 01, 2016 vide its Letter dated January 06, 2016/ D.O No. F7-1/2012 (WS). At present, the Centre consists of three members: Dr. Mridula Devi, Associate Professor, Department of Economics as the President, Dr. Zothanchhingi Khiangte, Assistant Professor, Department of English as the Coordinator, and Dr. Manab Medhi, Assistant Professor, Department of English as a member.
The Centre does not offer any course as of now but it has organized various seminars, extension activities and undergone research projects over the last few years.
A project of 1.8 crore rupees on "Empowering Marginalised Women through Life Skills" granted by NEC is being executed by the Coordinator of CWS , Dr. Zothanchhingi Khiangte as the PI.
Another project of amount Rs. 1.23 lac sanctioned by Bodoland University is completed by Dr. Z Khiangte and Dr. Manab Medhi as the PIs.
International seminar on "Interrogating Gender: Challenges and Possibilities of Plural Feminist Standpoints" in collaboration with Bengtol College, BTR, Assam on the 8th and 9th of March 2022.

Awareness Programme on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace on 15.12.2023 Conducted by Centre for Women Studies in collaboration with Women Cell & ICC, Bodoland University.
Organised International Women’s Day celebration on 7th and 8th March, 2024 at the university.
Observance of International Women’s Day with the Neighbourhood community at Haldwibari Village, Kokrajhar on 8th March, 2025 with awareness programme on women’s rights and women’s contribution to society.
